Banking Veteran and Technical Specialist, Ramón Ortega appointed to head Chicago Office

Banker and technical specialist, Ramón Ortega, has joined Siebert Cisneros Shank as Managing Director and head of the Chicago office.

Mr. Ortega, a 15-year banking veteran, brings a deep well of technical skills and quantitative experience to his new role, as the firm continues its focus on the Chicago and Midwest markets.

He has extensive experience in fixed income and municipal finance, most recently serving as a Senior Vice President in the Municipal Finance Department at Samuel A. Ramirez & Co., and previously as a fixed-income banking associate at BMO Capital Markets, both in Chicago. Prior that, Mr. Ortega worked as a fixed income banking associate at UBS Investment Bank and RBC Capital Markets.

His technical abilities and data-focused approach will be particularly valuable in the Midwest markets, including Chicago and Illinois, where solving credit challenges is an important component of serving clients.

“The Chicago market is vitally important to our firm and the hiring of Ramón to head the office shows we can compete with anyone to bring the greatest value to our clients,” said CEO and Chairwoman Suzanne Shank.

SCSCO Partner and Head of Investment Banking Gary Hall, who was born and raised in Chicago and has deep roots in the city, will also remain a major presence in the Chicago market, leveraging his extensive relationships on behalf of the firm.

“We are so excited to have Ramón on board and I think it can be a real game changer,” said Mr. Hall. “His demonstrated ability to solve complex technical challenges and share best practices with clients across the region and the country will add enormous value to Siebert Cisneros Shank. I look forward to what we can accomplish together.”

“Chicago is my home and it is where I have spent the last decade building my career,” said Mr. Ortega. “I know the market, I know the players, and I know how to provide excellent value for the firm’s clients here. Working with our dynamic team and drawing on the resources SCSCO has throughout the country, I know we can reach new heights.”

Mr. Ortega previously served on the Community Development Advisory Committee of the Chicago Mayor’s Office of Budget and Management, as well as the Board of Trustees of St. Augustine College in Chicago. In summer 2014, he was named a Chicago Club Leader of the Future by Latino Leaders Magazine.

A graduate of the University of Central Florida, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in liberal studies with a minor in business, Mr. Ortega also holds a Master of Business Administration in International Business and Finance from the Rollins College Crummer Graduate School of Business in Winter Park, Florida.
